Ferrari SP48 Unica One-Off Supercar is unique.
The Ferrari SP48 Unica
Is the latest Ferrari vehicle. It’s a one-of-a-kind, custom-built car built to the specifications of one client.
The Ferrari Styling Centre designed the SP48 Unica, a sports Berlinetta for two that is a two-seater. It was created under the direction of Chief Design Officer Flavio Manzoni. The arrow-shaped front profile, sleek lines and impossible appearance distinguish it from the original model. The headlights were changed, and the intakes for the brakes moved.
The designers and engineers at the Ferrari Styling Centre and Maranello made heavy use of procedural-parametric modeling and 3D prototyping (additive manufacturing) to redesign the front grille and engine air intakes. The 3D grilles appear to have been cut from a solid volume. This creates the illusion of fluid motion and continuity.
The body color has changed from black. The small side windows and absence of a rear window further accentuate the SP48 Unica’s chiseled-from-a-single-block-of-metal muscularity.
The central section of the roof, in the plan view, shows the air intakes in carbon fiber’s engine cover.
This angle shows the unique interplay between symmetries, intersecting lines and SP48 Unica.
The thermal-fluid-dynamic architecture of the SP48 Unica has been developed to fulfill all cooling requirements while maintaining a distinctive aerodynamic balance. The F8 Tributo’s most significant changes are the engine cooling vents under the rear spoiler and front bumper. Each component has its procedural grille, with each part angled to maximize airflow.
Thanks to the car’s architecture, engineers were also able to reduce the size and location of the flank intakes. They placed an intercooler outlet immediately below the side windows.
Rear overhangs that are larger reduce roof suction and increase rear downforce.
The interior retains the technical identity and features of the F8 Tributo, but the SP48 Unica has a sporty, aggressive, and sleek design. The interior trim, including the seats, is upholstered in Alcantara(r), black laser-perforated fabric with iridescent-reddish-orange threading. Its hexagonal shape compliments the grilles’ procedural livery and creates beautiful internal and exterior cohesion.
The SP48 Unica cockpit’s polished sill covers feature the same laser-embossed hexagonal design. Thanks to the Grigio Canna Di Fucile accents, the cockpit has a sophisticated and elegant appearance.
Ferrari SP48 Unica, a unique variant of a sports car, is a revolutionary version that skillfully enhances its racing characteristics and needs for speed. The SP48 Unica accomplishes its mission of modifying an existing model with innovation and zeal while maintaining the company’s core values.
Special Projects creates unique Ferraris (“One-Offs”) customized to each customer’s specifications. Each project starts with a client’s idea. Then, a team of Ferrari Styling Centre designers refines it.
Before the One-Off is started, complete design drawings are created, and a stylebook is developed. The entire process takes approximately one year. The client is heavily involved in both the design and verification phases. What next? This Ferrari is one-of-a-kind, with the Prancing Horse emblem. It was built according to the exacting standards of every Maranello production vehicle.
